YOUNG ASPIRING CLIMBERS
Ages 6-9 | 6 weeks | 6 Classes
Ages 10-13 | 6 weeks | 12 Classes
Looking for an activity for your son or daughter that will challenge them physically and mentally? This 6-week course (18 hours for ages 10-13 / 6 hours for ages 6-9) will teach your kid the basics of climbing, with plenty of climbing time, climbing games, and personal coaching from one of our highly-trained and enthusiastic staff. Option available to sign up for an additional six weeks.

DISCOVER CLIMBING
$42 for 1 person + $20 each for up to 2 additional people| 1 hour
Interested in discovering what this climbing thing is all about? This is the perfect way to get started for kids too young to belay, vacationers, or those interested in maximizing climbing time on their first trip. You will have a staff belayer for the full 1.5 hours, and emphasis will be on maximizing climbing time. You will receive a quick facility tour, orientation, and instruction on tying in. (You will NOT learn how to belay in this class.) You will also receive some instruction in basic climbing movement and gear.
Rental gear is included in this class.

INTRO TO TOP ROPE CLIMBING ("Belay Class")
$45 per person | 2 hours
Ages: 14 and above
This class is for brand new climbers who want to learn how to belay and the basics of climbing. We will teach you how to properly put on your harness, tie a figure-eight-follow-through knot, and belay in a safe and secure manner by properly removing slack and supporting the climber safely. This class will prepare you to take the Top Rope Belay Test that will allow you to belay in the gym without staff supervision.
Rental gear is included in this class.

BELAY YOUR KIDS
$80 1 adult & 1 child | 1.5 hours | + $20 per additional child
This class is the perfect parent-child intro class! Your child or children will get plenty of climbing time, and you will have the opportunity to learn to belay them! You and your child will learn how to tie a figure eight-follow-through-knot, and your child will have plenty of climbing time, while you practice belaying them. You must be 14 years old or older to belay at Wilmington Rock Gym.

SUMMER YOUTH CLIMBING CAMPS/CLINICS

Five fun filled mornings, each focused on new challenges and lessons for kids of all levels. Campers will work on footwork, and route reading to develop efficiency and competence in bouldering and top-rope climbing. Emphasis will be placed on the history of rock climbing, safety, and gym etiquette. Climbers will be grouped according to experience. More advanced climbers will work on a variety of strength and movement techniques to advance their skill.
Each week will include opportunities for teamwork and leadership.
Maximum of 12 participants per week | Min: 4 | Grouped according to age and ability. No climbing experience necessary.
GIRL'S SUMMER CAMPS/CLINICS

This is a special week for girls. Like most sports, climbing can be male dominated. We wanted to try to encourage girls to get into climbing by offering our Summer Clinic in a girls only format.
Five fun filled mornings, each focused on new challenges and lessons for kids of all levels. Campers will work on footwork, and route reading to develop efficiency and competence in bouldering and top-rope climbing. Emphasis will be placed on the history of rock climbing, safety, and gym etiquette. Climbers will be grouped according to experience. AMGA CLIMBING WALL INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Date: TBD
This course addresses the basic technical skills necessary to manage an instructional program at a climbing facility. The course length is a minimum of 20 hours of instruction, skills demonstration, and evaluation, typically run over 2.5 days. CWI Certification lasts for three years. After three years current CWI’s can re-take a one-day reassessment to regain the CWI certification.
Teaching experience and minimum of one year climbing required.
INSTRUCTORS
